Mission, Vision & Values

SESL Mission
SESL's mission is to engage the wisdom of young adults to transform our world.

SESL Vision
We believe this generation has untapped potential to bring fresh perspective to the complex challenges our global community faces and to create viable and innovative solutions to address these challenges. SESL strives to catalyze change on a local, regional, and global level by empowering young adults to work collaboratively in teams, to think outside the box, to dream big, and to take action to make a difference.

SESL Program Goals
SESL's overarching goals are:
  1. To help students develop entrepreneurial goals and skills in a low-risk environment while fostering a culture of social entrepreneurship.
  2. To promote civic leadership by encouraging teams to generate viable and sustainable solutions to real community challenges that are personally meaningful to them.
  3. To raise confidence and engagement through the realization that what students think and do can make a difference
  4. To build valuable real world skills students can draw upon throughout their careers
  5. To provide educators with experiential, inter-disciplinary, real world learning platform that can be readily integrated into current curriculum and across disciplines each spring semester.
SESL Values & Committments
The following five core values and commitments inspire and guide our actions:
Truth   Respect   Creativity   Perseverance   Fun
·TruthThe foundation of this endeavor is truth, integrity and mutual trust.
·RespectWe respect one another, and the potential that lies within each of us. We hold high expectations for what can result from the talent, ideas, hard work and determination of each student-driven, inclusive team of diverse individuals.
·CreativityWe encourage large visions, great possibilities, unfettered thinking, and continual growth and innovation as ways of approaching the challenges of this program and of life.
·PerseveranceWe acknowledge that failure often contains the seeds of success, so we embrace setbacks, obstacles, missteps and other forms of temporary failure as an important part of the challenging, energetic, and nonlinear journey to ultimate achievement and success through perseverance.
·FunWe expect laughter, humor and fun to be part of the creative, entrepreneurial work of SESL at all levels.
